Lucas J. Parker joined the Southwest Public Policy Institute in March of 2024 as a policy analyst and fellow before being promoted to Vice President of Consumer Advocacy in September of 2025. Protecting Americans from government overreach and ensuring free market principles are upheld are the core tenants of Mr. Parker’s beliefs. His goals of preserving freedom and liberty for all consumers aligns directly with the policies being advocated for by SPPI.
As a young adult, recognizes the need for Americans from all age backgrounds to take notice of how governmental policies alter our day-to-day lives. He believes that many young Americans choose to hide from this reality because so many think that they cannot alter change by themselves. Mr. Parker strongly believes that the only way for our government to become more transparent and accountable to its citizens in future decades is by having younger Americans interested in governmental policy and regulatory decision making now, as opposed to wanting to become involved later in their professional lives. Mr. Parker hopes his work at SPPI will show younger Americans the importance of acting early in life to educate yourself on government regulations and how they affect your life as a consumer.
Mr. Parker graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Alabama in 2024 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies. He also holds an Associate’s Degree in Science from Northwest-Shoals Community College. Mr. Parker intends on attending law school in the fall of 2026. He is an active participant of Moulton Baptist Church. When Mr. Parker is not advocating for fairer government regulations, he is likely yelling at one of his favorite sports teams or traveling.
