Albuquerque, NM — The Southwest Public Policy Institute (SPPI) today expressed its disappointment with the New Mexico Secretary of State’s office over the unexpected delay in finalizing a previously announced settlement agreement.
Despite receiving verbal confirmation of a settlement, and a statement from Linda Bachman, Director of Legislative and Executive Affairs for the Secretary of State’s office, mentioning that both “parties are working to memorialize the agreement in writing,” the finalization of this agreement is yet to be seen.
“We’d like to put this behind us and move forward, but the Secretary of State’s Office refuses to cooperate,” said Patrick M. Brenner, President of the Southwest Public Policy Institute. “It’s essential for both parties to act in good faith to uphold the principles of transparency and trust, especially in matters of public interest.”
The Institute is hopeful that this delay is temporary and that the Secretary of State’s office will prioritize the speedy conclusion of this matter, allowing both parties to move ahead constructively.
